Surreal explanation

Last night I dreamed I was at Charlie's wake. I spotted him there and rushed up to him:
"Charlie! I can't believe you're at this party for you!"
He gave me a big hug and said, "I told you I shouldn't have eaten that Big Mac!"

  1. I really miss one of our friends, and do dream about him. His wife now has his old job. When I see her, every time I have to bite my tongue and stop myself from asking how he is, because he still seems so real, even three years later.

  2. PS Any ducklings yet? Because I have a duck that is nesting right by my front door, and I have exposed the poor thing to the world's gaze by cutting back all the shrubs and grasses, poor thing. I had been about to re-model the area. Now I feel terribly responsible, and also really quite miffed as my house front now looks appalling! I have visions of having to erect a parasol there to replace the shade I have taken away.

  3. I know exactly what you mean, JR - poor you! I had a shock last week because the duck had gone and there were no eggs or eggshells in sight. Later that day, she returned and continued to sit there all week which leads me to conclude that either she'd hidden the eggs under some grass or she's laying more.

  4. Yes, they hide them, my guilt about removing her camouflage made me do some research. They leave the nest every evening to eat and swim until they have laid enough eggs, then they sit, so that they all hatch out together. The drakes see ours home every night - until today, when she refused to leave, so I know she has laid enough now. Just a month or so's wait while the groundelder and couch grass continues to grow, then.

  5. Very exciting, JR! I never saw a drake near our nest.
